I sent the link to Native Tex's Jon Voyt article to liberal friend of mine today. Later in the day he asked me to stop sending him emails like that and stated he was offended.
Why would they get offended?![]()

That really is a good question Joe, one which I have asked myself and given some thought to. all I can really figure is denial. Cannot handle the truth, avoid it so to speak.
While with so much out there that is not exactly accurate and some that is flat out false, I can understand some frustration for some people, but it really is not that difficult to find answers. It is unfortunate really, and goes with family as well as friends. Not too long back my mother kind of got caught up in forwarding some stuff that was not legit on Obama along with some stuff that was legit to her sisters, seen some of the same stuff floating around here and have gotten some of it in emailings myself and I generally discard that stuff in the garbage without looking, especially with forwards. Some of the things she said and forwarded were outright wrong and no excuses were made but rather apologies were offered. She pretty well got slammed for passing along some wrong information and one of my cousins who is supposedly very well informed with politics due to her polysci degree jumped into the emailings too, and before it was all said and done my aunt asked that my mother not email her with anything related to politics anymore and also informed her that she would block her email address if she did.![]()
Somehow I ended up involved. When I offered some truths and explanations and valid unbiased links to sites that gave clarification in regards to some of the questions one of my aunts had that got forwarded to me, the door was pretty quickly closed and it was said something to the effect that we could still be friends even though we have differing opinions on politics. That was coming from family.
Really in a way that was somewhat humorous to me since those same relatives encouraged my mother to do research and that cousin with the degree supposedly enjoyed a good debate, in yet none involved in the emailings wanted to take the time to check the unbiased information that I supplied for them which I actually encouraged them to do. Really I can attribute that type of action to nothing more than ignorance and denial.
Bottom line is that with any issues or candidates, you can try to help people become informed as best as you can and even supply them with legitimate sources, if they choose to ignore it or not check it out for themselves, that only shows them to be somewhat closed minded in which case attempting to debate or discuss topics with them is probably a dead end anyway.

maybe ask your liberal friend. point out, of course, that you were not trying to offend him or anger him, just inform him. see what he says. but, being a liberal maybe his blinders are in place and over tightened....
Some people find it much easier to get their nose out of joint, than to actually think for themselves.
I've lost two very close friends because of their liberal views, and quite honestly don't care. They put me in a position to follow their beliefs or not be friends with them, so not be friends with them is what I did. People have their blinder's on these days and have become lazy and complacent to what the mainstream media tells them. Much like "Alien Baby Born with Likeness of Jesus" on the front page of the Enquirer, some people actually believe that crap. It's real easy to get caught up in forming your opinions and views around a 30 second news clip they caught on the way out the door, or an email sent by a trusted friend. My dad sends me Obama hate mail all the time and I just delete it. It's also real easy to be pushed over by "this voice of change and fresh air" to the political field. They are not involved enough. Voting to them is like choosing a new pair of tennis shoes. Which one is more popular amongst the "in" crowd? Ridiculously irresponsible and unless its changed, it will most likely be the downfall of this country. We will continue to put people in office that are not capable of holding that office simply because of popularity.

This is soooo true! I think that's one of biggest problems today. To many people tow their party line on both sides and don't think. Same goes for the garbage the media puts out. Maybe, the friend who was offended has this problem. Seems like those who tend to be more liberal, as the term is used politically, tend to base their thoughts, opinions, ideas, and arguments on emotional feelings and reactions. I think were much better off when we analyze information, take time to think about, and then form our own opinion. Maybe after the friend has some time to think about the information shared, he/she will have a different opinion.
