What is your definition of a racist??

honestly i dont really have a definition, just figure it out with the way someone talks/look/acts around people of a differant race.

but no one really cares what my view is we just want to see some bickering

oh man this could get ugly. To me a racist is someone who treats a person differently based solely on their race(that could be treating them better or worse). That is my general definition, it is not 100% comprehensive, it has holes in it, and it can be applied too broadly or loosely....have i covered my butt yet?

Oh well that was my contribution, it was meant to be constructive, and i will not reply further. Feel free to disagree. Ok rather than type a disclaimer like that maybe i should have taken the hint and just not posted. Oh well.

 I guess according to this definition, I am a bigot, because I believe in Jesus. But according to this definition a person can be a bigot about almost anything he believes in ...

I wonder how long this definition has been on the books ??

I saw this one coming. I even considered asking this question myself.

Seems some think they are above others in here and will resort to calling others these terms without even knowing fully what they mean.

In my opinion a racist is one who expresses hatred towards someone different from themselves. they discriminate against others they see as different. Whatever that difference may be. Be it different color, different religion, different nationality. As far as a dictionary definition, my take on the definition as it comes from the books and from above is that a racist is someone who views others who are different from them in a lesser light. Meaning they think they are better than those of other color, religion, nationality.

Just my personal interpretation, but on the bigot term according to my take of how it is defined above it seems anyone not open to listening to others opinions and why they might have those opinions could be labeled as a bigot. Someone who is so closed minded in their own beliefs that they will not listen to others. It is not a matter of accepting what others are saying, but is a matter of being open.

Now all that said, I think I need to go back to the post that brought all this about. I personally never once said anyone was any lesser, never said anything negative directed towards anyone else. How is it that someone can tell me my views are racist or bigoted because I have an opinion they do not agree with. With an open mind I read and replied to posts with my honest opinions and seemed some with very closed minds quickly replied with the use of words such as bigot and racist based on posts they may not have even fully understood. Is that not only being a bigot themself, but also being a hipocrit?

To me, a racist or bigot is someone who thinks they are better than another person based soley on the other person's race.

To discriminate is to decide you don't like someone or think that one is less than you based on their religion, gender, hair color, weight, age, or any other number of personal traits.

You sure got that right. Seems to me he is a reverend of hate, not sure what religion that is affiliated to

, but no doubt he keeps those who follow him very angry at those who they seem to think owe them something. Creates nothing but more tension between races.
