    Default Thoughts on Iraqi Election

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to recall that there were quite a few people from the US and Western Europe who went to Iraq prior to the US led liberation to serve as human shields. Supposedly, they were going to “stop the violence” by placing their bodies between the US forces and the innocent, peace loving people of Saddam’s Baathist regime.

We now have a situation in Iraq where there truly are innocent, peace loving people going to the polls to freely elect their leadership for the first time in 30 years. And that process is being threatened by violence from a small number of desperate and ruthless terrorists.

My question is – Where are the human shields now? Why aren’t they placing their bodies around the polling places to protect the innocent, peace loving Iraqi voters?

Let's send Michael Moore he doesn't believe in violence and gun ownership.. Oh, wait, that's right, his bodyguard was arrested recently in NY for having a concealed weapon without a permit.

Well, I hate to see the loss of any human life, but in this case I'd say we certainly improved the gene pool!

A shame really that more of the Iraqi people are not getting involved in stopping the violence. Sure they are afraid, but why cant more of these people understand that it will only get better if they all, or at least all who are able anyways help us in all the efforts to stop the thugs who are trying to keep them from having their own freedom.

I think much of the Iraqi population is suffering from Stockholm syndrom. 30 years is a long time to live under a strict dictatorship.

Yeah I agree Steve, but you know these people have to realize it can only get better if they help in taking control of their own country and help weed out those causing all the violence with intentions of keeping them from being free. I understand they are scared, but somehow they need to learn that helping us help them will help them in the end and speed the process if that makes any sense.
