Tennessee teacher alledged to have had sex with a 13 year old student. If this its true, what was she thinking? Quite an attractive young teacher, why a 13 year old.

Saw that on news this morning. I think it is happening a lot more than we realize. It all started with the Letorneau woman what 10 years ago, then it died down, now it seems every couple months a new one is coming up, Tennessee, the teacher in Florida last year. The only thing I can really say about this is where were these women when I was in middle and high school 10-15 years ago.

I saw her on tv this morning and thought the same thing....she is very attractive and could have had a man, so why a little kid? In fact, it seems like all of these female teachers that have been caught doing this type of thing are pretty attractive in their own rights...makes no sense to me.

And it has been a while since I have stirred the pot, so I ask this....If it was a male teacher who had sex with his 13 year old people would be out to hang him, calling him a pervert and such. BUT it seems that when the genders are reversed it isn't such a big deal. Any thoughts?

I see where you are coming from HuntingInMaine and I think it just has to do with the groups getting the publicity. I am sure there are many people out there who want to see this woman locked away for a very long time, and by all rights she should be, but it also comes down the the male driven society we live in. If it were a male teacher with a 13 year old student, yes, people would be out to hang him, even if the allegations were false and even if he as exonerated, it would stay with him for life. On the other hand, with this woman, and it in no way excuses what she has done, but a lot of people are like, hey, way to go son. And maybe a lot of people think that just because she is a woman that she should get special treatment. Well, in order for her to do the things that she has been accused of doing she would 1) Have to have no moral compass. 2) Be very sick in the head. and 3) Be a manipulative B****. This woman is capable of a lot more than having sex with an underage student. Remember that Nicole Kidman movie that was based on a true story. I wouldn't be surprised if this woman had a hidden agenda. From a guys point of view, When I was a Sophomore in High School 12 years ago, my English teacher was a young Greek woman, early twenties, very attractive, and every guy in the school thought so. Now, if she had seduced me like this woman obviously did, there is no telling what she might have been able to get me to do, mainly because at 14 or 15 years old, a person is not mature enough to be able to handle something like that and can be easily manipulated. Maybe she was lonely, maybe the kid was well endowed, maybe she is just a highly sick individual. It is beyond me how a grown woman can stoop to having a relationship with a 13 year old, I don't care how "mature" this 13 year old is, he is still a kid and able to be manipulated.

It's child molestation no matter which sex the teacher is.
If I had a son 13 years old who was molested by his teacher, I would want her behind bars.(good lookin or not)

I wish that I had a teacher that looked like her when I was in school. I know that if it happened to my son I would want her to hang, but we are talking about me here and I can't type what I'm thinking; it would be deleted.

Actually my wife and I discussed the gender reversal on this when we heard this on the news this morning and I said the exact same thing if it were a man doing this to a young girl people would suggest hanging him. I think the idea in most peoples minds and I may be wrong, but just my guess is that when it comes to a reversal, it would be much more difficult for a woman to force herself on an unwilling young boy that age than visa versa if it had been a man forcing a young girl. Apparently there are 28 counts. Some of those she alledgedly forced him to do things?

Of course, the idea comes up that what 13 year old boy given the situation would refuse to let her do whatever she pleased with him. I honestly dont recall any teachers when I was that age in school being quite tht attractive. The kid apparently did not tell anyone, it was someone else who reported it and the parents did not know until after they were contacted about it by officials.

This whole story does seem a little weird to me. She lived with the family for a short time. She was married, when her husband supposedly found out just a few weeks ago he filed for divorce. In this country one is still innocent until proven guilty, but still cannot help but wonder what a woman in that type of situation would have to be thinking.

Call me sick or whatever you want but if I was 13 yrs old again, and had an attractive female teacher wanting to sleep with me Id have done it in a heartbeat.And if someone had turned her in Id of probably been madder than ****.Not trying to sound like pervert, just being realistic.

Another difference is just that attitude though, younger boys, that get a chance to have sex seem to view it as just that, a chance to have sex.Younger girls seem to have more issues with it, they feel used or whatever afterwards.Odds are if it was a 13 yr old girl having sex with a adult, it would have a much worse affect on her than it would a 13 yr old boy who probably just viewed it as getting lucky.

On the other hand, the adult never should have let it happen in either case, I wont argue that.But I think theres a real reason its veiwed differently depending on the sex of the minor.

According to the first line of the article it doesn't seem like they are taking this lightly compared to a reversal of gender. I think only some people just seem to take it lightly in their own minds for whatever strange reason. It is nice to know that our country still stands against some immoral acts and tries to punish those that do them.
