    Default Jerky Shooter guns

I just received the jerky shooter kit I ordered from Cabelas. I ordered it after reading several posts here that they make great jerky. I've made alot of jerky the traditional way but never with one of these kits, other than simply following the instructions (which seem pretty simple) does anyone have any tips for using this thing that might help me get good quality jerky from it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.........

Just follow the instructions, it is very simple. If you are using a cure kit, they usually give pretty good instructions and suggest mixing a little water in with the ground meat and the cure and seasonings. Makes it easier to mix.

Like Wtnhunt said it is easy. I've had mine for over a year and a pound of jerky only lasts a few hours in my house. Get the Hi Mountain jerky mixes and follow the directions. Yuuuuummmmy!

Yep, the hi mountain cures are the favorites here as well. The hickory and mesquite are both great. Have not tried others by them yet. They suggest using a little more cure and seasoning in ground meats, but they give measurements to use.

Follow the directions closely, my first batch I didnt put enough water in with the cure and seasonings. With the high mountain for ground meat i think its like 1 cup for each lb of meat or something.I just added one cup and it didnt have real good flavor

For a little added flavor I substitute about 1/8 cup liquid smoke and a 1/8 cup worchtershire sauce with one on the cps of water, it turned out reall good that way.

Tried mine the other day and it is great jerky! We ordered more trays and screens from Cabela's so we can make more of it!

I will take the ground meat jerky over the regular cut any time after making that batch! Can't wait to get all the equipment and make some more.

Thanks for the responses and the advice, I'm really looking forward to giving this thing a try and will certainly use the advice you were nice enough to offer. Along witht he jerky shooter I went ahead and ordered 1 package of each of the different flavored seasoning High Mountain offered so I'm looking forward to trying the different cures. Thanks again for the help.
