    Default Morrels

Morrel picking season has started. Last weekend and this weekend we found about 50 morrels. Done fried them up and had some good eats.

At my home in Northern Vanderburgh County; I've found a grand total of FOUR mushrooms! Seems like the past five year have not been "Mushroom Years".

I used to eat morels all spring, and VIOLA' It caught up with me...an "aquired allergy" Now the things almost kill me! I love to pick them, and "hunt" them...just can't eat them any more! (it's tough being 29!) I have places in NW Minnesota, that I would be happy to show people, there are a ton of mushrooms: I now live in W. Cent. MN and I am still looking, just not finding...yet! I can't eat them, so I give them away...I have made great friends and got permission to hunt with a bag of morels in the spring!
