I typically do either of these:
Use a rub of salt, pepper, and garlic on the chop.
Add a strip of bacon around the perimeter of the chop using a toothpick to hold in place.
Cook over oak coals until medium
or
Use the same rub as above
Fry in a cast iron skillet after frying a couple strips of bacon. Leave the grease in the skillet and add the chops. I typically just sear the chops on a medium-high heat.
Remove chops and add them to another skillet with a can of cream of mushroom soup. Simmer until the soup is done.
Serve over egg noodles or bed of rice.
perfect! that sure sounds good AJ, thanks for the recipie and i will try those out![]()
Marinate in Zesty Italian Dressing overnight. Grill and eat. Tasty.
This can be used for steaks or for chops. It's very good.
Venison Round Steaks
2 lbs of venison steaks/chops
1/2 cup flour
2 tsps of salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp olive oil/vegetable oil
3 tbsp finely chopped onion
Brown sugar
Ketchup
Dried basil leaves
1 tbsp butter/margarine cut up
1/4 cup beef broth
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a shallow bowl mix flour, salt, and pepper. Dip streaks in flour mixture, turning to coat. In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp of butter in 2 tbsp of oil over medium heat. Add coated steaks and brown on both sides. Fry in two batches if you need to. Arrange the steaks in a 9x13 inch-baking dish. Sprinkle with onion. Top each steak with brown sugar and 1 tsp of ketchup. Sprinkle lightly with basil. Dot with 1 tbsp of butter. Add broth to drippings in skillet. Cook over medium heat for 1 minute to loosen any browned bits in the pan. Then add to the baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil. If meat appears to be a little dry add a little more broth and bake for another 15 minutes until browned on top, about 15 minutes longer.
thanks for the ideas guys![]()
