I usually cook mine with onions, butter, and... oh ya peppers..
I've also dipped them in egg and crushed ritz crackers and fried it in chunks... mmm might have to get one of mine out this weekend..![]()

I have never eaten the heart! I might need to try it~
Make a small mix of turkey dressing (minus the sweet peppers, I guess...LOL).
Make sure you wash all blood clots out of the cavities really well.
Stuff the heart real good with the dressing and wrap the heart in two layers of bacon.
cover with tin-foil and bake at 400* F, for 90 minutes or so. Uncover during the last 10 minutes to brown bacon well..
When done...cut cross ways in tin slices
Mmmmm Mmm good![]()
Sheesh, buckee noe you're just making it difficult on which one to try first....![]()

I just take mine, put salt and pepper it, flour it, throw right into the skillet!!!! My dumba## self kept bragging on how good it was, now the wife and kids eat it to!!
Go with the stuffed recipe buckee posted. For moose heart i do a mix of basically his recipe and wildrice and stuff it. Deer hearts are so much smaller i am too clumsy to stuff them well. I sust slice it like a tomato into slices 1/4 to 3/8 thick, marinate in butter milk, coat in a fish breading, and pan fry in a bit of butter. MMMM good!Either way will be some tasty dinner.
We've saved them and eaten them for years, my son (9 yrs) just love it. We clean it up good, just boil it and then slice it cross ways to make great sandwich size slices - put a slice of onion on it with a little salt and pepper and you'll be coming back for seconds.
there is something wrong with of of ya'll!! eatring a heart of a deer or any kind of animal is gross. i'm not ever eating the freaking heart unless i'm bout to die of starvation!! anywho ya'll have fun eating and fixing up your heart!
i like to cut it into sliver, roll em in bread crumbs and egg, and pan fry em
Heart can be excellent if cooked right. One thing I might add to the above. We boil the heart prior to slicing it up. I believe it tenderizes the meat and also draws the bood out. I like your idea of stuffing. That sounds good. I'll have to try that one.
