Weatherby Vanguard ?

A local sport shop has a Weatherby Vanguard with a synthetic stock, and stainless, in 270 WSM. They are asking $485 on sale. Is this a good price? They told me that it lists for $985.

I don't know too much about Weatherby guns. Is this model a good gun? I wasn't really looking for another rifle, but that price caught my eye. I don't have that caliber, so I may be buying a new toy.

Well, perhaps they mean Pesos not dollars for the list price. The Synthetic Vanguard retails for $595. You can see it here, on Weatherby's website.

Once again, the Vanguard is not a true Weatherby. Its made by Howa in Japan for Weatherby. They are decent rifles. I have owned a Vanguard and presently own a Howa 1500.

If I wanted a WSM, I would look at the Winchester 70 synthetics that Wal Mart is offering for under $400 in WSM chamberings.

Hey guys thanks. I thought something was fishy. I am not really in the market right now anyway. AJ I'm not really looking for a WSM, I say that rifle and it was a caliber I don't have and thought I might be interested. I have a few that I don't use now, but I think my next rifle will be a 280.

here in nebraska a vanguard is on sale for 399 dollars for synthetic stock and blued barrel. this is at a store called scheels.

Just picked up a Vanguard in 30/06 for $250.00 at Walmart......Clearance.
