Its a decent gun. While there are some aftermarket parts available like barrels, stocks, and trigger/hammer parts, its not quite as popular as the 10/22. This is not to say it is not a good gun, just not as popular. The 10/22 has had a big head start since it was introduced in 1984. The 597 is Remington's answer to the 10/22 popularity. While it can be made as accurate as a custom 10/22, it will cost more to do so.
