    Default .257 Roberts

My uncle has a Browning A-bolt in .257 Roberts, (wood stock, blued barrel) that he wants to sell. I was looking for another deer gun and I think this might just be the ticket. He won this gun on a raffle and it has never been fired, only taken out of the box and put into the gun cabinet and thats where is has been for a few years. He hasn't told me how much he wants for the gun yet, so what do you guys think it's worth? Also, would this be a good choice to hunt deer only in PA where most of my shots would be 150 yards or less?

Is it an A-Bolt or a BBR? Either way, its a good choice in caliber for deer. It has light recoil, but enough punch to get the job done. You can read more about the .257 Roberts here.

I don't have my Blue Book here at work, but I can give you some numbers this afternoon/evening.

The Blue Book lists an A-Bolt 1985 - 1993 as:

    100% - $415
    98% - $340
    95% - $295
    90% - $265

New in box (NIB) is 100%.

    The A-Bolt II 1994 - present is:

    100% - $525
    98% - $425
    95% - $350
    90% - $290

i am shootign a 25-06 and i like the 257 caliber bullet and have enjoyed some very good groups out to 100 yards shooting a 85 grain bullet but am going to 100 grain psp from remington this season the ballistic tip i don't think is best for a deer but the soft point in my eye is a much better round and i will be shooting it this next week at the range to see what i need to do to get he gun dialed in. i have been getting dime groups at a 100 yards with ballisitc tips so i think i will still get tight groups at a 100 yards witht he 100 grainer's
