Camoing your guns (shotguns included :-P)

I doubt I could do this to a pretty finish, but I have a Rem. 870 shotgun that is really nothing special, but it does the job. I can't find Gunbrellas any more.....did they go out of business?? What is a good way to protect your stocks?

Anyway, back to the title of the post....anyone camo their own gun before?? I think this gun looks cool, and it also is effective.



I have thought about doing this to my 870, but it is still tough to spray-paint a perfectly good gun.

Honestly, I am not sure of the purpose of this post Anyway.............

Just whip out the Krylon and have at 'er!!!!!!!

Actually it's not that hard to spray a gun once you decide it's for increasing the effectiveness of the gun as a tool. I've done a couple of turkey guns. They're starting to get a bit worn (the paint job, that is) and I'm looking forward to re-doing them...........better this time. But if you start with a bag of leaves and somewhat of a plan, you can do some pretty cool things.

Hey, I recognize that gun, its Varmint Al's.

I have spray painted a few of my guns in the past. My Browning BPS 10 ga got the spray treatment. My buddy was crying while I was painting that pretty walnut stock and deep polished blueing. HA! To me, guns are a tool.

I also painted my 835 and H&R Ultra Comp 30-06. They came out pretty good. I took some different leaves and laid them on the gun as I sprayed different colors. I don't care if its pretty, I want it to be functional. A spray paint finish is very functional. If it gets scratched, just give it another blast of paint.

No way I could have done that!!! My 870 is matte finish with a low grade walnut stock. I am seriously considering it now. You're right about Varmint Al's rifle.

Do you have any pics on hand?? Don't go out of your way though, just thought by chance you might have some. Trying to get a thorough idea of what I want it to look like.......

Ryan, Bass Pro sells a camo kit made by camo-clad. I did my 835 last year with it, came out looking pretty good. Think the kit is around 20 bucks.

Thats the nice thing about painting one. If you don't like the looks, spray some more. I don't care about if the pattern looks good or cool, or whatever. Its a tool. I want the glare down and possibly break the outline.

I was going to paint my 870...then did some checking around and decided to ship my gun away and have it dipped in Hardwoods.

There in lies the prob., the guy that did it for me (as far as I know) doesn't have the ability to do it any longer. I also can't remember the cost I shipped my gun to GA and had it back in a few weeks. It is a little pricey compared to painting it yourself, but there is a good bit of work involved. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

The 870 looks AWESOME! I recently layed away a Encore 50 cal muzzle loader that's all Realtree Hardwoods. I love camo guns. I plan on getting a .280 barrel for the Encore and would love to have it dipped in Hardwoods as well. Any suggestions where I can get this done other than through Trebark. I thought I saw a link on here last week.
