.222 remington

Howdy guys...I bought a new/ used rifle in .222 remington. This is going to be my yote/ bobcat rifle and I'll be reloading, of course. I've shot a couple of boxes of Winchester 50 Gr. SP's through it already and the accuracy is mighty fine for a 54 year old rifle. I'm reloading the Win brass with Nosler 55 Gr Ballistic Silver Tips, AA2520 at 24 Gr, and CCI Mag small rifle primers. My question is this:

To crimp or not to crimp? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't crimp any of my bottlenecked cartridges. I have done tests and found it did more harm than good for accuracy. I do crimp the .45-70 Govt. cartridges. They need all the neck tension they can get to help get a good burn. The little Deuce does not need that.

Having said that, here is a test that shows an accuracy improvement from crimping.

I like BL-C(2) in .222 Rem and .223 Rem. I have great success with the 50 gr V-Max, Ballistic Tip, and the TNT.

I've used my Model 700 .222 for years to hunt fox and coyotes in Minnesota and I absolutely loved it. You've got a great gun, enjoy it!!

I'll try the powder change on my next load. I've still got a bunch of these 55's left but they seem to be pretty accurate. I guess their on the edge from a stability stand point, though. Thanks for the advice.
