Cabelas Alaskan Guide Rifle Scopes

Anyone have or used a Cabelas Alaskan Guide Rifle Scope? They look good, it is a 4.5-14X52 i think. How are these scopes? clearness wise and all. Thanks in advance.

I have had one on my custom 300 Wby for 5 years now. It has held up superbly. Mine is the 4.5-14x44 asI don't like scopes over 44 mm. I have used it in 3 states, toting it all over the place and have yet to need to make and adjustment change. Every time I take it to the range, I fire a group to verify the POI and its not changed in 5 years. Its beat up, scratched up from being banged on and rubbing against my treestand while dragging deer, and it still works perfectly.

The optics are good. The scope is clear edge to edge. The light transmission could be slightly better as it can appear a little darker than top end scopes. For the money, I have had better success with this scope than my Leupolds. I highly recommend this scope.

How would it compare to a Nikon Buckmasters?? or a Zeiss Conquest, or a Leupold, or a Burris. Do you think it is a better scope than a leupold? Clear as the leupolds? How does it compare to other brands? Thanks again.

Its hard to list just based on manufacturer. Each manufacturer has a range of products that range from inexpensive to expensive. Generally speaking the upper end is the best. They will have the clearest and brightest optics, and the most sturdy innerds. Rating a Leupold Rifleman vs a Conquest is no competition. Leupold looses. But if you compare a VX-III or LPS vs Conquest, the lines are about the same. As you drop down the line, the products are comparable overall. One may have an edge here or there

From your list I would rate the Zeiss Conquest on top. The Leupold VX-III and Burris Black Diamond are about equal. I would rate the Burris Signature Line and Nikon Monarch next. The Leupold VX-II, and the Cabelas Alaskan Guide, are about equal. The Nikon Buckmaster, Burris Fullfield II, Leupold VX-I, Rifleman, etc would get the lower rating.

Like I said in my earlier posts, mechanically, the Alaskan Guide are superb. While I only have a sample of two scopes to judge, both have been outstanding. Both have held zero for many years and not needed adjusting even after being bounced around, hunted hard with, and had lots of range time. One is on a .300 Wby and the other is on a .300 Rem Ultra Mag, so recoil is not easy on them. The scope is clear from edge to edge. The optics are not quite as bright as some of the upper end scopes, but I will trade some light transmission for mechanical sturdiness. Its not like they are dark, I have not had a problem identifying game or counting tines on bucks during legal shooting hours. I am very happy with mine. I own a lot of different scopes from Burris, Leupold, Sightron, Cabelas, Simmons, Tasco, Redfield, and I have the Cabelas Alaskan Guide on my old faithful custom gun. It works great. I could replace it with a more expensive scope, but I don't need to.

I used to have Cabelas Alaskan Guide Rifle Scopes about an year back and i was totally satisfied with the effectiveness and aiming. now i am using Nikon.
