    Default Federal Fusion ammo?

Has anyone tried the Federal Fusion ammo? I bought some for my .270 & 30.30 - The ballisitic charts on this stuff is awesome, I shoot groups from my 270 that had 4 out of 5 holes touching at 100 yards.
In the 30 30 the bullets shot about 4 inches higher then Core lokts & grouped much tighter.

The real nice thing about this ammo is that it isn't as expensive as a lot of the premium ammo..

I've never tried them but have heard very good things. I'm going to buy a box for my .270 this year and give them a go. I've seen pics of recovered bullets and they mushroomed perfectly and did not fall apart. With the kind of accuracy your getting with the .270 they sound perfect.

    Good luck.

Never used them either, but I've heard a lot of people like them. Might have to try them myself.

I've been trying different factory loads for my 7mm Rem Mag and the Fusion 150 grains are grouping the best. I've been shooting at least weekly since June to get ready for our trip to Quebec for caribou in late November. I've read good things about the Fusions expanding well and not fragmenting on impact. I'll let you all know how it goes sometime in December!

Last fall I ended up trying the Fusion in a couple different rifles and calibers and was truly impressed. I shot it in my 7mm mag and 270WSM and sub moa all the time. I hutned Texas with the 7mm and had a 1 shot knockdown no step kill at about 100 yards so it performed on game. I also have a Ruger #1 in 25-06 that I struggled to get anything to shoot. I don't have time now to reload and don't shoot as much as I would like so was trying for an accurate factory load. Nothing worked so as a last result I saw the 120 grain fusions and tried them and shot 5 shots in 3/4 inch. I couldn't believe it . This stuff is supposed to be a semi-premium hutning load and not designed for super accuracy but everything I shot was more than accurate enough.

I've used them. They shot fabulously accurate for me as well.

However, IMHO, these bullets aren't that tough. Out of my 30-06 with 180gr loads I've had these bullets fail to exit and when they did, the exit hole was very small. This is real bad news for hunting thick areas as the resulting blood trails are pathetic. For more open country game they are just fine. Keep in mind this was on small bodied (under 165lb) South Carolina deer. So based on my experience, I wouldn't even consider using them on anything bigger than deer.
