Default reviews on low buck scopes

I'm building a shooter and want to use a scope under 100.00 dose anyone out there have a web site that tells you what scope is the best for your money? I tried consumer reports and they do not have anything at all on scopes. I guess I'm asking what is the best cheep scope for your money.
ie) Ncstar, BSA, Simmions, tasco, or Redfield? I know what you guys are going to say, say you money and by a good scope. I will I would just like to shoot this thing before it snows and then will get a good scope. Hope you can help

Well..........you took the words right out of mouth! Why wait, the hunting seasons are right around the corner! Get your good scope now! I have had some Bushnells in the past that works ok. Once I got my Monarch from Nikon, thats was the last Bushnell I will own. Heck, you can get a good Nikon Pro Staff 3-9x40 for about 50 bucks more from what you want to spend now!

    Welcome to the forums.

Would have to agree with the above. I am now a nikon fan for good. Have had plenty of functional scopes, but the first good scope I bought was a buckmasters scope that was clearanced at wal mart a few years back for around $150 or so if I remember right. Put that scope on my wifes .243, and was quite impressed with the clarity and how bright it was even compared to the larger objective simmons 44 mag I had on my .270 at the time.

The nikon's are very bright and clear. The buckmasters scope is brighter than the burris I have on my AR. Far as simmons and the cheaper bushnells go, they are functional, but just not in the same class as a nikon.

I've got a Bushnell Banner 4-12x40 on my .300 WSM, does the job for me! I think it's a great scope for what I paid for it, around $90-$100 CDN. I haven't had one problem with it yet!

If you put a low dollar scope on a new gun that's supposed to be a shooter and it doesn't shoot, is it the scope or the gun?

It happened to me. I was sure it was the cheapo scope. Guess what? It was the gun!

It should not be the gun. It was dead on before and all I'm doing is putting on a muzzle brake and changing the stock. I do know what you went through. I had a custom Mauser 7mm mag that I had built and I put a big boy scope on it. It never hit anywhere close to a good grup. I thought it had to be the scope and sent it back to the Co. and they said there was nothing wrong with it. So on it went and I changed the ammo and still all over the paper. I had the gun checked by another gunsmith and he said the head space was off. Now it is a one holeing bad boy.

I bought a couple simmons 3-9 by 50 off e-bay for 50 bucks a few years back, had one on my .223 and one on my 7 for at least 3 years and prob 500 rounds from the 7 and 5000 plus from the .223 never had to move it once, plus they get abuse bouncing around!I am not a believer in needing a thoasand doller scope,I also have had no prob with bushnell, actually great luck, had had lots of trouble with 2 tasco scopes, never own another one! just my opinions!!good luck
