    Default Varmit Scopes

i have a 6x24 varmit tasco scope and was going to put it on my .270 for big game hunting....is there any problem with that...can the scope handle the kick from a .270...or should it only be on smaller rifles..??

There should be no issues with the scope handling the recoil of a 270. But that's an awful lot of scope to be using for general big game hunting. 6X can be pretty hard to get on a moving critter.........not much field of view. If you have to make a close-in shot or one in some brush up close you will definitely be handicapped by the 6X. Besides that.........I hope you aren't planning to carry the gun a long way in rough terrain. You're adding a good deal of weight to your rig. I'd reccommend a 3-9 or 2-10.

I think your making a mistake. I had a 6x24 for coyotes once and sold it because it took to long to find the target if I left it on high power. It's just to much scope IMO.
