    Default T/C Icon

I want to try and get this rifle b/c of what I have found it is the only one chambered with the new 30 t/c round. Has anyone seen them or have an idea on a price for it? I have called several gun dealers and none of them no of a price for it yet.
    thanks

I've been waiting for the distributers to get them and so far, they are unavailable. Looks like a beautiful gun. Keep an eye on gunbroker.com and put the icon on a watch list. When GB gets it you will know they are beginning to be in stock. Wholesale is about $730 and I would expect the retail to be from 8-900. Gunbroker might get it to you close to the wholesale cost but you will have to pay a transfer fee to a local retailer willing to take the shipment. Good luck!

They are very nice looking rifles from what I have seen on the ads and on TC's site.

It is amazing - back when they were announced they were supposed to be available in April and all reports indicated that the selling price would be in a very affordable range with a targeted retail in the $600 range, I believe. Then bang- Smith & Wesson buys T/C - it is now September - still not available and getting into the premium gun price range. I had my heart set on one but I won't pay a premium price for it. If not in the same range as the Remingtons which are tried and true - S&W will not see my money

The 30 T/C will NOT be a reloader friendly cartridge. It's impressive performance is achieved by Hornady's proprietary loading process and powder.

Reloaders will only be able to achieve less than 308 Winchester performance. So you better like buying factory ammo and your rifle better like it.

    Something to think about.

In todays market totally polluted with 30cal offerings, I would think a very inflexible new offering would be an extremely bad idea.

My impression of the Icon is T/C took bits and pieces of bolt action technology from Weatherby, Steyr and Tikka put them together and called it a "new" gun. Yep, they look nice. Worth a premium price? Don't know yet.

    Just my opinion.

ronin is correct about the wholesale price...my one book list them for $736 wholesale. Haven't checked to see if I could get one...haven't had any requests.

Ouch! Was just at a local gun show and there is a dealer that I regular see there that handles all the T/C things. I asked what he knew about the Icon and he said they are currently available and he has sold 2 of them. He claims he can get them. The 2 he sold he sold at $953. Ouch. I asked him what makes them so much better that they can command that kind of price. He said they look nice but he can't figure it out either. I hope that T/C doesn't miss the boat here as the concept is good but to have it priced so far out of line with the Remington, Tikka, Brownings and such just might be suicide for it. I have always been a big T/C fan and wanted one of these from the early reports. I don't think I want it for that price though.

DITTO, WHY NOT JUST CHAMBER IT IN 308?
