Superguide, near as I can quickly research, the rem. 788, mf'd. from '67 to '83, was made in .222, .22-250, .223, 6mm, .243, .308, 30-30, 7-08, or .44 mag., good luck on collecting them.
Kind of reminds me of the Savage 340's which look like pregnant bolt actions. Ugly as sin but super accurate especially with the triple deuce...my favorite .22 of all time.
Bigmoss took a pretty cool video of me rolling a running coyote with my triple deuce last week when he was out here deer hunting. I'd really like to find a .308 or 7mm/08 next.
I have a Model 788 Carbine in 7mm-08. I love that gun. It shoots excellent with almost everything I've put through it. The only down fall is the triggers. I sure wish Timney would start producing the triggers that they list.
