I need a new deer killer

I need HELP!!!!!!!! My choices are between the Browning stainless stalker and the Weatherby Vanguard stainless sub-moa. The price is about the same. I love the features on the Browning like the 60 degree bolt, palm swell and the light weight but I have heard from several people the gun has had some problem with grouping shots. The Weatherby is a bit heavier but is guranteed to shoot Sub-Moa. What riffle should I go with? I am going nuts with trying to decide. It will be .270 cal.

The Weatherby is nothing by a Howa! Weatherby stamps their name on them. Good rifles though!

I had a Browning A-bolt in a 7mm Mag and couldn't get any groups that were close to 1" with it and that was with hand loads! I got rid of it.

I have a Tikka in both a 270 and 308 and they will both shoot 3 shot groups that are less than 1" all day long! I love'em! Wouldn't trade them for anything! Very light weight rifles and the actions is extremely smooth!

I have a Remington 700BDL SS DM now and I can olny shoot 2 inch groups with hand loads so that gun will be traded very soon. I may take another look at the Tikka. I also like the T/C Icon but I really need an all weather gun not a show piece.

Personally I have never had a bad shooting Remington and have many. I never understood why Brownings are more expensive so have never had one. I agree that the Weatherby Vanguards are good guns but only Howa's. Group guarantee means nothing and they will always send you a target that they shot in controlled conditions with a machine to prove it. Tikkas have been getting great reps and they are basically a Sako and worth a look also - appear to be one of the better values out today. I'd wait on the Icon - not sure it is worth the money - let someone else buy them and find out - too many proven rifles out there.

I would get the Weatherby, Howa and Weatherby are the same thing. I have 2 Howas now, and with reloads the all will easily shoot under MOA.

I have to give the nod to the Weatherby as well. I have a .270 WSM and the target they send isn't just for looks! Right out of the box I was shooting half inch 3 shot groups with two different loads. I have the stainless sub-MOA and love it.

Plenty of options out there, just take your pick. A-bolt, savage model 10, remington model 700, tikka, and the list could go on. Personally I am a fan of model 700's, they just feel right to me, the .270 I have used for killing deer for years with is still just as deadly accurate as it was when I bought it. Nothing wrong with some of the others mentioned though.

Far as the tc icon, I like the looks of the gun too, not too sure on their chambering of TC .30? Think I would wait on them just yet, but if I was set on getting one of them would likely go with the .308.

I own a Browning A-Bolt Medallion in .270, no issues here! My father has the the same gun in .30-06 too, no issues with his too! Three shots at 100 yards in an inch.

i just bought a Remington model 700 25-06 CDL and I can group 3 shots within a inch at 100 yards. I would buy which ever one you think would be a better gun. I like Remingtons, other people would rather have something else. It is all what you prefer.

Honestly, the fit and finish on the Browning will be a little better. And the resale value on the Browning will probably hold better than the Vanguard.

The Sub MOA Vanguard has a very nice Bell & Carlson stock with an aluminum bedding block in it. Buying one of these stocks after market is about $250. It also has a little bit beefier barrel, which honestly I like better than "mountain contours"

If it where me. Eventually I'd want to rebarrel the Browning. But truthfully, it may never need it.

I dont't think the Browning offers the B.O.S.S. system anymore, which I can't understand why....But my Browning 30-06 A-bolt Hunter with B.O.S.S. will shoot holes inside of holes at 100 yards. Its my favorite gun in the cabinet and always my go-to when I can't decide which gun to take to the field. I have no experience with the Weatherbys.

Well I learned something new. I tried the dollar bill trick with my remington 700BDL SS DM tonight and it would not fit at all. I loosened the front allen screw on the bottom of my gun untill the bill slid nice and easy. I took the gun out and shot it and instantly went from shooting 3-4 inch groups to shooting half inch groups at 100 yds. Man-o-man am I ever happy. Looks like after hunting season I will be taking the gun to my gun smith for a little floating work. I don't need a new gun now but I will still probably get one just for fun. I'm thinking a 300 wsm would fit the bill.

I'd save my money on the Weatherby Sub-MOA. Just go buy the standard Vanguard. From what I can see.......they shoot sub-moa right outta the box anyhow. My daughter's Vanguard Compact in .308 is a 1/2" shooter at 100 yds. Incredible!!!

i bought the wife a browning 25-06 stainless stalker for her first gun.Put a 250 dollar mainvue scope on it.Went to sight it in and couldn't even get a 3 inch group out of it.Took it back to the dealer and wanted to out it.The dealer took the time to go out with me and shoot.We found it was the lead not the gun.All you pros no that every gun and you really do matter so before you give up try a new grain cuz i now preferr her browning over my rem bm or my tc icon
