This Sunday marks the opening of Montana's State managed Wildlife Management areas. Many of these areas are prime winter range for deer and elk and therefore have lots of bone laying on the ground. They are a huge attraction for shed hunters - some begin at midnight on the 15th. I will be going again this year to my favorite spot - just hoping nobody has gotten in there illegally. Sometimes they do get hit early but there is no way to police it unfortunately. I've included a couple pictures from 2 years ago - what a great day! Wish me luck on scoring again this year. I have to deal with competetion from other shedhunters all the time so I feel your pain.

It's like an easter egg hunt really. People hit it hard and at full speed. All the antlers in the pictures were found in the first three hours of daylight except the match to the 7-point which I found in the afternoon. All the obvious antlers get picked up the first morning and then it gets tough, but there's always a few left. I'll let you all know how I do.
