    Default Still finding sheds (photos)

I thought I had found the mother of all non-typical mule deer sheds when I saw this group of tines sticking out of the grass. Then when I got closer I realized it was a matched set stacked one on top of another. The set scored 169 (gross) with an estimated 21.5 inside spread. He could be a whopper this fall, especially if he decides to grow out his left main beam.

You guys are crazy! Looking for sheds in that kinda of grass is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack! Congrates Dan on the sheds. I can't believe your still looking! You are what we call a die hard shed hunter! When did you pick them up?

I just picked them up yesterday. I was out of town on business and was running a bit ahead of schedule so I just took a walk in a pasture where the rancher had not turned any cattle out.

I received my "Big Buck" magazine today and read your story about Bulldog. It was a great story and enjoyed it very much. Do you think his friend is still alive? Did you find any sheds from either of the bucks?

I doubt Buckasaurus is still roaming the earth. I haven't seen him since the fall of 2002. He's probably either relocated or been shot. I have one antler that I think may have come off him when he was 2.5 years old.

I've got two antlers that came off Bulldog from age 2.5 and 3.5, but both were acquired post-mortem. It's interesting that he was already a 6x6 when he was only 2.5. CLB picked up that antler, and after a little whining he gave it to me. The other antler was given to me by one of the farmers who lets me hunt on his land year after year.

I found two sheds today while doing the tillage for my foodplot. I found one 3-pointer off a 1 1/2 year old buck and I found a broken off tine sticking out of the rear tire of my tractor. Luckily it didn't go in far enough to puncture through. I was afraid to pull it out , though. I could just picture the calcium spraying.
