I read the article last night and did not agree with the author on alot of the article. Especially where he says "First, the dog should be at least 8 months old before testing" Sorry but IMO the younger you can get a dog started ON ANYTHING the better it's going to be. Also if you try his test #1 and 2 without a trained dog and expect it to do everything right, well I'll just say good luck to you and sorry that the dog is just "expected" to know what's goin on.
JMO but it wouldn't be the article I would recommend to someone that wants to train a dog for sheds, or anything else for that matter.

i read it to and i didnt agree very much with most of the stuff he said.
I haven't read it yet, have to read it at work tom.!!
I did not say I agreed with the article, I said it was very interesting. I do think it was interesting & look forward to part 2. I also do not agree fully with the 2 tests. I do not think you will find to many pups that will retrieve the way he wants every time. I do agree that you need a pup that acts very interested in retieving.
Sorry brownie65, I was just stating what I thought of the article, didn't mean to come of as anything against you. I'm interested to read the second installment of the article as well.
Is this in the December issue?
