    Default Shed Antler contest idea

I was thinking, we have contests for turkey and deer and photographs, why not have a shed antler contest, by photo? Maybe a category for the biggest/best shed you find during the 05' season and a category for the best "as it lays" photo andm aybe categories for the best typical/non-typical shed.... Each person could maybe submit one photo in each category and the contest end by a certain date, like June or something. I don't know what you could do prize wise though if we actually had a contest and had prizes, I could maybe do a drawing of the shed for the winner of each category or one of the categories.(I have gotten pretty good at drawing sheds, I could always post a photo of a drawing). Maybe this idea sucks but I thought it might be fun. Any opinions?

Yeah it would be worth it if we could round up some prizes somewhere.

Yep. Gotta go with Ryan here, the test is culturally biased! The Canadian guys don't even bother to pick up the sheds that are under 65"! LOL

It's interesting that you post this - I've been kicking an idea around for some time about a shed contest on this forum. I'm just trying to figure out how to go about doing one ....... turkeygirl - if you have any ideas, feel free to drop me a PM.

I'm in if a can be paired with BCBoy,

Seriously though, it sounds like fun, I think the Canadians and the Yankees in two separate catagories sounds good. Maybe two separate catagories for muleys and whitetails, and maybe one for moose too.

The team thing sounds like a good idea. Randomly draw people into equal numbered teams and come up with some type of point system. Maybe have the team/point system count and then a separate individual category for the best "as it lays" photo or something. There are some good ideas here. Kansan-I'll keep my mind churning)

I like the idea. Teams would work really well to give some of you Yanks a fighting chance. We could go by size, species or even just shear amount of bone. Of course for us Canadians who actually find 100-200 sheds a year we'll need the backyard pics with all the sheds laying on the lawn as proof.
It'll mean I'll have to work my butt off and actually bring the backpack to pack out some of my moose sheds.
Like this day when my buddies and I found over 30 sheds in a couple of hours.

I hope we can get this thing going, it would be fun. So far it sounds like having teams would work the best. Maybe take the Canadian entrants and split them equally with the U.S. entrants..... By the way nice sheds BC! I actually my first moose shed the other day, it was sitting in a biology lab room, lol, from when a class spent a semester in Alaska I believe. It was cool!
