The recoil difference is easy, the added weight of the BPS reduces the felt recoil. When you put the same payload in a gun that weighs a couple pounds more, its going to kick less. Plain and simple.

Now for the pattern, there can be many reasons it does not pattern well. How clean is the bore? Plastic buildup can mess with the patterns. Give it a good cleaning with a bronze brush and some solvent to dissolve the plastic fouling. Leave it set for 15 minutes or so and brush it 15 or 20 times. Repeat until the gunk is gone. Dry patch and oil.

Try another pattern test. If that does not help, you will need to find a better combination of ammo/choke tube. Not all guns like the same thing.

The BPS 12 ga 3.5" uses the Invector Plus tubes if I recall correctly. The barrel is larger diameter than the standard Browning but still way smaller than the 10 ga. The bigger barrel on the 10 has its extra pound of weight in the barrel. This cuts muzzle rise and seems to tame the recoil more than if it was in the stock. It tames the recoil velocity better.

We can't all be lucky enough to have a gun that shoots incredible patterns after testing only one load and choke combination. We know that some guns can be a little bit more finicky than others. Our extensive testing has shown that there are some 10 gauge guns that just do not pattern the .720 choke and the heavy (2-1/2oz) hevi-shot® load very well. These more finicky guns usually prefer a tighter choke of .690 with a lighter load of H20213 (2-1/4oz), which will give the devastating results that we are all hoping to achieve.

I have the browning gold 10...patterning it with the nitro hevi shot and winchester supreme this week i'll make sure too let you know how it handles. i will shoot the nitro outta the Rhino .720 and win supreme outta the standard x-full turkey choke. I allready shot the winchesters and it patterned really nicely at 40 yards. But load and choke combo seems too be everything i sent nitro an email and our guns are on there picky list so hopefully i can get this right. If not i am going with the old faithful kicks GT and some winchester supreme 5s
