    Welcome to the group.

    After you shoot the animal with your shotgun you can typically recover all of the remaining shot when you clean and prepare it for the table. Lead is dangerous in dust form. Pieces of lead are not that dangerous (unless they are being fired at you). The other benefit of lead is when you are eating the animal, if you happen to bite down on a pellet. If its lead, it will just deform the shot. If its steel you can very easily crack a tooth.

    I have bit down on lead before...It -hurts-...lol. Clean your critters well and your all set.

    I have run small game under a plain old metal detector, before...........just to be sure.
