I tried one in my Rem 870 and was not thrilled about the performance. While it was slightly better than a smoothbore, it was not near a rifled barrel.

I have been using a rifled choke on and 1187 for the last couple of years now. I have a red dot scope permanently mounted on the gun and use the same barrel for both turkey and deer. It's nice to just swap the choke in and out and keep shooting the same gun.

I Love it. I am not saying it is as good as a full rifled barrel shotting sabots or anything like that. I am using regular winchester foster style slugs and I am shooting very very tight groups out to about 80yds. I can efectively place a lethal shot in a deer sized target out to about 125 yds.

If this is an option and you want to shoot the "cheap slugs" I would strongly suggest it. If you wan to shoot sabots, I would suggest a full rifled barrell.

But one more thing, Do no tplan on getting any better results from the sabots unless you buy the higher end rounds. The lower priced sabots do not deliver like the more expensive ones.
