sighting in their slug guns. I only shoot rifled slugs out of a smooth bore and haven't found the recoil to be all that bad, but I kept hearing guys talk about how much recoil there is when they sight their guns in. Well, I realized that most of you have probably been referring to sighting in your guns with a rifled barrel and sabot slug. I took a shot last week with a buddies 870 with rifles barrel and sabot slug and I realized what everyone has been complaining about. That thing liked to kick my shoulder into next week. My question is this, is it the shorter barrel that causes this or is it the sabot slug or a combination of both. I was thinking of getting a rifled barrel for my Nova, but after that I am not so sure, if I do I may just keep shooting those rifled brenneke's out of it, the only thing that really keeps me from getting the barrel is that fact that accuracy out to 80+ yards isn't really all that a concern to me considering the area I hunt, I pulled off about a 40 yard shot a couple weeks ago at a Doe and had no problems, and that is about the max distance I will probably be shooting at, most shots where I hunt are in the 10-15 yards range anyway.
