The Benelli Nova is the Best Pump on the Market Right now! Go with that!
Go to the store & find the one that fits you. Throw it up to your shoulder several times---find the one that "feels" the best----the one that snaps to the shoulder, head down---looking straight down the barrel. That's what it takes to hit birds. Then make sure you can buy a slug barrel for your deer hunting.
I think that Moss, Rem, Win are just about equal---You could move up to Benalli, Browning, etc. They all will give years of good service if you take care of them.
I've got an 870 for 35 years--never had problem one & have used it for everything from doves to turkeys. 1000s & 1000s of rounds shot thru it.
I personally like my 870 better than my 835. BUT if you want a supermag, I think the 835 would be the best way to go. If you just want 3" capabilities, just get another 870. it'll never do ya wrong.
Nova's are also good guns, but I don't really like 'em.
If your just using it for slug hunting, i would try to find a Mossberg 695 bolt action. I shoot one, i love that thing.
I have owned a Moss 500. That was a great gun too! For price, can't beat the mossy's

For duck and deer you wont need a 3.5" gun. I would stick with the 870 for the money.
if you want a good all around shotgun i would go with the rem.870, i have 5 of them & they have never let me down, & it is fairly easy to find accsesories for them then most guns. i don't care for the mossberg to munch seem cheap to me, but a lot of people love them. if you want something for slugs i would get the h&r ultra sluggun, i personally think it is the best gun for slugs, hands down!!!!!......just my opi......... good luck
Winchester 1300 or a remington 870 would be at the top of my list. Would see which one feels better.
I have an upgraded Mossberg 500. It is my turkey gun and I like it a lot. My brother used a 500 for one deer season and he said it kicked like a mule. He is happy with his Win. 1300.

I personally love my mossberg 835. If anyone wants a goose gun my buddy has one for sale that has a 40 inch barrell.
Benelli Nova or another 870. I like both of them but I currently have the Nova so I'll go with that.
I've got a Benelli Nova in Camo. Best pump out there. IMO If your just going to slug hunt I would go with the H&R.
i'd go with the 870 over the Mossberg. i have two 870's and neither has let me down in almost 30 years of hunting
If you get the 835 you will be able to shoot 2 3/4" to 3 1/2" shells! Also you can get them with two sizes of barrels. You could have a turkey gun and a goose gun with no problems. But according to Mossberg its not the length of barrel that does the killing, its the choke! I have the 835, but with just the shorter turkey barrel. I also have a Browning 500-G(which they dont make anymore!). If this is your first gun and your on a tight buget, get the one that will allow you to hunt doves to deer, and anything in between!
