There is only one good choice, The H&R 1871 Ultra Slug Hunter. Its one of the best shooting slug guns made. This one is the deluxe heavy barreled version.

the one AJ posted is the one to get. i got one & it is one of my better investments.
AJ nailed it again.......
I have the one in the photo and I love it! A bit heavy but worth every ounce.
It depends if you want to use open sights or a scope...For open sights I would opt for the H&R Tracker II. Arguably as accurate as the Ultra Slugger at about 3-4lbs lighter. H&R does not recommend you have this gun drilled and tapped for a scope. I know that many have done this with success. Especially with the 20GA.
With the Ultra Slugger you have to use a scope as it does not come with rifle sights.
I have an Ultra Slugger and it will shoot with the best of them but it is heavy especially with a scope mounted on it. The weight doesn't really matter much if you are a sitter but if you like to stalk for long periods of time that weight might catch up to you.
Like AJ said the H&R Ultra Slughunter is the best out there for the money. I paid les than $420 for gun and scope setup and ready to shoot.

Holy Cow!!!!!!
What kind of scope did you put on it?????
I've got a "cheap" scope, by most standards, but good grief, I've got less than $250.00 in my setup...
You can easily drop $420 when you figure in a good quality scope and rings to compliment the $220 Deluxe Ultra Slug Hunter.
Yeah, I know..... just what I was getting at. I went with a low end scope on my 980 Ultra Slug Gun....and mine isn't the delux model, so there's a little bit of the difference too.
Mine has a Bushnell 3-9 x40 Sportview on it.
It seems to be getting the job done for now anyway.
I have the same Ultra Slu Hunter Deluxe shown above topped with a Tasco World Class scope and it is an awsome gun. You can get the gun for the same $$$ as a nice cantilever rifled barrel for an 870. I also have a NEF single shot 20 ga which is basically idendicle to the H&R but it is still new NIB but I would assume it will shoot just as good. i won the gun in a big buck contest the first year out with my new H&R set up!
