Default Sighting In My Browning Gold Slug Gun

Well, I received my Browning Gold 20 gauge Slug Gun, for Christmas. After reading the manual and cleaning the barrel; I mounted a 2.5 Power Weaver Scope on it. I guess this question is one for AJ , so AJ when the weather clears enough, for me to sight it in, how high should my groups be @ 50 yards using Winchester Supreme Gold 2 3/4" 260 grain sabots? I plan to use this gun for shots 75 -100 yards and would want the shots to be dead on at 100 yards. <THANKS>

I'm not AJ LOL. Is your barrel fully rifled?I take it is since you are talking sabots. Also, you may need to try several brands of sabots to find which ones are the most accurate in your gun. Will your new gun 20 ga.also shoot 3". ? I tried several different sabots in my Rem rifled barrel before I found one that was the best shooting. In my barrel was the Federal Premium 3" Barnes Expander. I also tried 2 3/4", and the 3" was the best for my gun. I'm not sure how many sabots are out there for the 3", you might be limited to 2 3/4". Let us know how you do

Yes, my Browning shotgun is fully rifled, and I have several boxes of Winchester Supreme Gold 20 ga. sabot ammo, which is 260 grain H.P. partition bullets. I was just wondering how high should a 5-shot group be @ 50 yards inorder to hit zero @ 75 - 100 yards. I plan to sight it in @ 50 yard range and need to know if they should group 1" or 1.5" above point-of-aim.

If you sight it 3/4" high at 50 yards, you will be dead on at 100 yards. This will put you about 4" low at 150 yards.

The best way to be absolutely certain, is to sight the gun in at 50yards, then shoot a group at 100 yard. That way there will be no guess work involved. If you are 2 inches low at 100 yards, when zero'd at 50 yard, you know how high you need to be sighted in at 50.

Thanks AJ! That is what I'll do as soon, as the weather allows. I'll sight in @ .75" high @ 50 yards and check it out @ 100 yards.

Not a problem. Just remember to always verify at longer range prior to attempting the shot on game. There are some variables like scope height that can throw the numbers off.

I would just sight in dead on at 100 yards then try closer and farther off targets for practice. A deer is never just 100yards away. good luck
