Default Vinson Ranches?

Anyone ever visit the Vinson Ranches in Texas?
Lanny Vinson is the owner. I remember seeing it
on TV with Michael Waddell. I spoke with Lanny today
and am considering going there with my wife for a
whitetail hunt. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Imagine Michael is pretty busy right about now, but he does check in here from time to time. Maybe he will see this thread and reply.

I'm not familiar with that particular operation, but I am familiar with the area. Typically it has very good numbers of whitetail deer and trophy potential is above average. A big buck for that area will go in the 150's and some 170's are taken every year. A "management hunt" will usually get you a 125'ish 8 point or maybe a bit larger. The terrain is borderline between the rolling plains and the "everything has thorns" country of West Texas. It's very remote, with the closest city with an airport being Abilene about 35 miles to the south.

This area of TX is awesome, one of the better areas to hunt low fence deer with good trophy potential. You see alot of deer.. Hunt on wheat fields and corn feeders and usually a buck or two a sit will be seen. I wouldnt let a 140 walk is this area but high end deer above 150 is not uncommon.
Lanny is a great guy and will do his best to make your hunt fun, just like you have seen on our show.
Goood luck if you go..

Default Vinson ranches great

I have hunted there 2 years back to back and was scheduled to go back last year again but was not able. If you looking for a place to kill a very nice buck in 130-140 class this IS the best place to go. I have 2 bucks on my wall the first year i took a 13 point that was heavy and unique he scored 135BC. The next year i took a large 9 point with 13inch G2's, 8inch G3's. He scored 140 with 1 G3 broken off. If you can shoot you will kill a buck. Lanny and staff are a great bunch of people. you will have a great time. The best thing is no trophy fee so if you kill a 200 class that in age group he is yours. I talk to lanny "CHIEF" every year. Hope you enjoy as much as i did. Can't wait to go back. If you go tell Lanny the father and son group from florida said HI.

You are correct, Lanny has a good time. we have enjoyed his company everytime we went out there. Last time we were there you guys and just left and we got to hunt with on of your camera men from Auburn, we tried to get him and Lanny to come to Fla. and alligator hunting with us. I might try to get Lanny to come again next summer.
