Was there other civilizations at the time of Adam and Eve?

Here is a way to look at....my pastor brought this up just as food for thought: "Adam" is a rough Hebrew translation that means "Men" and "Eve" is a rough translation of Hebrew meaning "Women." Both of which are plural. Maybe God created more than one man and one woman in the beginning. Just food for thought for Christians or other Bible believers that are not to fundamental.

Well thats interesting but i don't buy it at all
Just look at all the singular not plural references

Gen 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into <u>his</u> nostrils the breath of life; and man became <u>a</u> living <u>being</u>.

2:8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put <u>the man</u> whom He had formed.

2:22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into <u>a</u> woman, and He brought <u>her</u> to the man.

notice scripture says his nostrils not there nostrils and the man singular not the men plural
also Eve was fasioned out of Adams rib not ribs
As i read it Adam was one man and Eve was one woman. I wont read more into scripture than whats there

God made Adam and Eve first. You better be careful when you take scripture out of context. Read whats before and after scripture you are reading. People try to twist scripture around to what THEY want to believe. Read what scripture says abouy marriage and divorce and then kook whats happening all around you.

Obviously at the time of Cain and Able there are other people. When Cain killed his brother he was made to roam the earth where he was hated by other me. As far as I can remember, Seth is the only other "official" son of Adam and Eve. and no daughters were mentioned.

Well, I find it pretty hard to believe that Adam and Eve only had 3 sons, since Adam lived to be over 900 years old. God commanded him to go forth and multiply, which I am sure he and Eve did quite well..LOL. I think the only reason the 3 sons Cane, Abel and Seth are mentioned in the bible, is because of their biblical blood-line significants to lineages in the bible of God's chosen people, etc.
I'm pretty sure, Adam and Eve had lots and lots of kids together, both sons and daughters, and since Adam and Eve were Gods first man and woman created, it wouldn't be unusual, or even genetically unsafe at that time in the history of man-kind, to marry your own sister or brother.
Yeah, I know I'm speculating too, as we all are when it comes to the first few chapters of mans existence.

The bible traces lineages for a specific reason. It all points to Jesus in the end. That is why (I believe) there are those missing people, and lineages in the bible. They are simply unimportant in the great scheme of things.
