Saddam WMD Tapes to air on ABC tonight.
What will Dean, Gore, Moore, Franken, Pelosi, Kennedy, Sheehan, the Hollywood Left, liberal academia and the mainstream press corps do about this? |

It's about time eh.
Maybe this will get the president and the boys overseas a little more support than what they've been getting |

Easy! They will just down play the recordings as alleged and go back to the "Breaking Story" about an update on the VP's "Victim".

I honestly hope they find the WMD's that were supposed to be in Iraq and that these tapes and the new book claiming they are in Syria turns out to be true, for it means that our troops will not have died in vain.

Only a liberal would ever think our troops have died in vain. Their service to their country is never in vain.
And in spite of what some may think, WMD's (although everyone admits he had them) were not the only reason we took out Sodom. |

[/ QUOTE ] I haven't actually heard those words as of yet, but it is only a matter of time, As far as "Our troops dying in vain" Don't get me started, until you have done even half of what those troops have done. When you see all the good we are doing and admitt that maybe just maybe we are doing some positive things in the world, I will almost listen to your complaints! Oh I know, you support the "Troops" just not the President. Got some news The President is the highest ranking official in all branches of Military. JMHO folks don't mean to be offensive, But NONE of my fellow Soldiers have "died in vain". Regardless the Branch, and I kind of take offense to those who suffer diareah of the mouth and spout trash like that. |

Diarrhea of the mouth huh? I didn't mean any offense by it. I was not trying to say that the troops have not been doing a hard job over there. It just seems to me that the primary reason they were sent there were over WMD's, and after almost 3 years there have been none found and the search for them was called off over a year ago. Thats what I meant about dying in vain. And I have every right to spout off "crap" like that, I'm a veteran.

NBC reported that there were recording of meetings that Saddam had with his top officials and that he claimed that wmds would be used against the United States by terrorists. They then went on to say that while he talked about wmds, he never did openly admit in these tapes that Iraq did have them or where they were. Apparently the tape they were referring to where wmds were talked about was made sometime prior to our troops entering Iraq.

Died in Vain?
I guess everyone has the right to an opinion and I'm sure there were those that thought the very same thing after every war we've been envolved with - but of course you have that right to spout off because those men fought and some of them died - but never in vain..... |

Slugshooter:
Thanks for your service, when you were serving how did you react to people telling you that you were wrong for doing your job? Did you beleive in your mission? even if you didn't did you do it any way? You mention that you are a Vet, Desert Storm? I suppose we didn't have the right reasons for that one either did we? Not trying to be beligerant, though sometimes, it comes out that way. Just like you I am entitled to My opinions, and yes I am sure that they offend some people, guess that will never change, My opinions are affected by first hand knowledge of what exactly we are doing in Iraq, I have seen the good and I have cried countless tears for the lost, however, we have all volunteered and continue to do so. We as SOLDIERS are bound by, Loyalty,Duty,Respect,Selfless-Service,Honor,Integrity, and Personal Courage. |

As far as the original comment about dying in vain, let me first clarify that I don't believe that our soldiers have/are dying in vain. Dying for your country is the ultimate sacrifice and even if I don't necessarily agree with the reasons given for going to Iraq it doesn't make the sacrifice our soldiers have made any less important. As far as my service, no I wasn't in Desert Storm, I was still in high school at that time, what I find ironic about Desert Storm though is when Hussein told White House officials that he was going to invade Iraq, their response was they really didn't care, only until he threatened invasion of Saudi Arabia did we feel the need to start military action.
As far as myself, I was in the Air Force, not necessarily the most glamorous of the services, not "The Mens Club" as TSBH would call it, but that is the choice I made and I don't regret it. I never had anyone tell me that what I was doing was wrong so I can't really comment on that. But I am proud to have served in any capacity and miss it sometimes. I would do it over again in a heartbeat and maybe even do it a little better the second time around. I didn't join for job experience or good benefits or the GI Bill (although that is a nice perk), I joined because I believed and still believe in my country, a country that I would have died for and would still die for. |

Then we agree, at some level, i am quick to react sometimes and can put things a little sharp, I won't hold the Air Force against you, every branch has it's mission. I am no politician and can't say as I will ever try to figure out why Washington is the way it is. All I can do is go when they tell me to, and do my best. Being stuck in recruiting now, I hear all the negativity and take it quite personaly, Partialy because of the lack of respect, and partialy out of regret that My Squad is back in the desert without me. I apologize for reacting before thinking, I can't say it won't happen again but I will try. In the mean time say a prayer for OUR Service men and women.
