Default Tough questions, even tougher answers

Tough Question: Why does something so horrible happen.

For some background information first. My wife and I have a some really good friends that we have been sharing the Lord with. They both never had any real background with Church so they didn't know much, which is really exciting to see them learn. We have been doing a Bible study with them and just really enjoy being around them.

Recently some of there really good friends had a little boy (1-1/2 yrs. old) that got sick and died just this past week, a real shock. We haven't talked to them much since but I know what there question is going to be. How can God allow things like this to happen?

I know it is just God's will and we don't always understand things, but what are some things to say to make it easier to understand for a person just getting to know God. I guess I'm looking for any suggestions on how to help them. Thank you for your help and prayers.

Your best answer to this question will come from the Lord Himself. Ask Him if you haven't already. Blessing to you and yours.

    Aaron.........

Sometimes the best answer I have found to give people in this type situation, is no answer at all. It is at times like this that I just try to listen and lend an ear and a shoulder for them to cry on. In the long run, they will not really remember what you say; but more of what you do. That is what I have found to work the best.

    I don't know.

What I do know, having faced my own mortality a few times, is that God has a plan for all of us. When the mission is done, he calls us up.

It is difficult to relay my feelings in words. All I can say is that I think I have a deeper understanding of death now, and faith in God is at the heart this understanding.

You are right this is a tough question....and the hard truth about it is that at some point in our lives we are all going to face terrible loses and tough times. As for what to say to someone that has just gone through something like this.....well I would have to say that you just have to let the Holy Spirit work through you!

What I mean is.....well I am a paramedic and I am put in the middle of tough situations on a pretty constant basis. Now alot of medics out there don't handle the lose of a patient well and dealing with a family member on the scene of an accident or death can be tricky!

Alot of medics just simply try and stay clear of the situation and not deal with the family. I came to realize early in my career that God put me here for a reason. I love helping people. And if that means being there for the family that has just losed a love one than so be it. I just try and ask God to lead me by the Holy Spirit and let whatever comes from my mouth be from Him. This is the only way I get through my day!

Not sure if this helps, but hope so! Stay strong and God bless!

You know the "God's will" answer bothers me a lot of times. True, God can use anything for good, but not everything that happens is in his will. Many people condemn themselves for eternity. Is that the will of God?

Rain falls on the just as well as the unjust.

Love them and pray for their healing. Maybe some good will come of it with God's guidence, but I don't think the death of a baby is the will of God. JMHO

Sometimes God allows things like this to happen in order to bring us closer to him. Even if it brings more questions than answers, the truth is questions are at least being asked that probably wouldn't have been before.......

It is impossible for us simple mortals to comprehend that in heaven there is no pain or suffering........and it is our own selfish nature that causes us to get mad at God when we suffer a loss, when in fact we should rejoice that he has taken one more home. Yet that is seemingly impossible to do, unless it is a long drawn out sickness, where we often find ourselves prayng for God to take them home...

The pain suffering that Jesus endured unto and upon the cross, pales in comparison to anything we will ru into...

Just let your friends know that God does indeed love them, and in order for him to answer their questions and comfort them, they need to lay themselves down before him.....the answers will come, but they need to ask him, the Lord our God...

First off, I tend to agree on the whole God's will thing also, because he did also give us free will....and while it says our stories are already written, I think it is more like a living story...like a video game....where certain decisions will dictate how the next chapter will read.....

I also think that unlike us, God does in fact have the ability to see our entire stories even before they are complete.....maybe God saw something in the infant child's live that was not going to be so pleasant.....maybe God took this child's suffering away and took it home to where there is no more pain and suffering, and in turn he may also gain the personal relationship of the parents in return.....maybe two more souls finding salvation.

God's will was not meant for us to comprehend....nor question it....it is our job to to strive harder to become closer to God, to obtain that personal relationship with Jesus....running the race until the end. Nobody said it would be easy, but the sacrifice is undoubtedly well worth it......especially considering what the alternative is...

Pray for them, and they will be in our thoughts and prayers as well.

Thanks guys for all of the comments. The best thing is that God is a always a great healer and that God also has a great love for children so I know the child is being well taken care of.
