Anything weird ever happen in Church?
Anything crazy ever happen at Church? Last night we had a woman pass out during the sermon (no it wasn’t that long and wasn’t boring). They think it may have been blood pressure medication.
Anyway, I’ve had a lot of really odd stuff happen at Church. At first I thought it was a coincidence but after some though I realize it’s because of the frequency we have attended since I was a child.
Anyway, two things come to mind. The first: Cold, wet winter. We had a bunch of snow on the ground. We were sitting in Grandpa’s Church. I don’t remember if we were singing or what but we kept hearing something knocking on the church doors. We kept looking through the small glass panes in the door but never saw anyone. Pretty soon the knock would continue. No one wanted to open the doors because of the cold and the doors point North.
Anyway, finally my brother opened the doors and standing on the porch was an adult skunk with a peanut butter jar on his head (glass jar, I bet that dates me a little). He was trying to get the jar off his head by beating it on the church door. An old Indian man, who I greatly admired, picked the skunk up by its front lets and had my brother lift the rear by its tale. They then pulled the jar off and tossed the skunk out into the snow. It never sprayed or even acted threatened. Instead it ran out and rolled in the snow like a dog.
The second was pretty scary, especially at roughly 14-15 years old. My Grandma is a professional CPA. She invited a friend of her and Grandpa’s to preach at Grandpa’s Church. He came from another state (I think it was Missouri) to preach. He had to be Pentecostal because I still remember him beating his fist in his open hand, shouting, etc. He paced the front of that Church like crazy and preached on how everyone should strive to be like Job.
As soon as he was finished he walked over to the front pew and sat down. Grandpa was giving alter call when the guy stood up, drew a deep breath, clutched his chest, and fell over dead. And that’s the God’s honest truth. We got him to the floor and tried CPR but to no avail. We later found out his heart has basically exploded and the damage was much to severe to save him.
