Post Anything weird ever happen in Church?

Anything crazy ever happen at Church? Last night we had a woman pass out during the sermon (no it wasn’t that long and wasn’t boring). They think it may have been blood pressure medication.

Anyway, I’ve had a lot of really odd stuff happen at Church. At first I thought it was a coincidence but after some though I realize it’s because of the frequency we have attended since I was a child.

Anyway, two things come to mind. The first: Cold, wet winter. We had a bunch of snow on the ground. We were sitting in Grandpa’s Church. I don’t remember if we were singing or what but we kept hearing something knocking on the church doors. We kept looking through the small glass panes in the door but never saw anyone. Pretty soon the knock would continue. No one wanted to open the doors because of the cold and the doors point North.

Anyway, finally my brother opened the doors and standing on the porch was an adult skunk with a peanut butter jar on his head (glass jar, I bet that dates me a little). He was trying to get the jar off his head by beating it on the church door. An old Indian man, who I greatly admired, picked the skunk up by its front lets and had my brother lift the rear by its tale. They then pulled the jar off and tossed the skunk out into the snow. It never sprayed or even acted threatened. Instead it ran out and rolled in the snow like a dog.

The second was pretty scary, especially at roughly 14-15 years old. My Grandma is a professional CPA. She invited a friend of her and Grandpa’s to preach at Grandpa’s Church. He came from another state (I think it was Missouri) to preach. He had to be Pentecostal because I still remember him beating his fist in his open hand, shouting, etc. He paced the front of that Church like crazy and preached on how everyone should strive to be like Job.

As soon as he was finished he walked over to the front pew and sat down. Grandpa was giving alter call when the guy stood up, drew a deep breath, clutched his chest, and fell over dead. And that’s the God’s honest truth. We got him to the floor and tried CPR but to no avail. We later found out his heart has basically exploded and the damage was much to severe to save him.

    Crazy about the guy dying.

I passed out in church once and hit my head on a brick wall (sucking weight for wrestling). I was in the hallway so some guy helped me into the bathroom and I puked my guts out. After that I was fine.

Once this lady was bearing her testimony in front of the congregation and at the end she said " I want to thank all those who helped my family this last week after my husband's surgery. He's fine now, I just have to massage his scrotum for 10 minuted every night" After she sat down , her husband hustled up to the pulpit and said " brothers and sisters, my dear wife meant to say ""septum"".

Back to passing out. My little brother was ushering at church, standing near the door opening it for people. During the meeting I saw him sit down and lean over like he was taking a nap, he even had his hands under his head. A bit later he sat up then stood up and left. After we left church he handed me my bible that he was using and said" sorry bro, I peed on your bible". He knew he was about to pass out and had laid on the bench to prevent a nasty fall. When he woke up he had wet himself(at 18 years old). I still give him a hard time for that one.

That's a funny story about the ""septum"" Andy.

By the way, the lady that passed out in Church the other night was having a heart attack. We got a call to pray for her Yesterday.

Can't top that guys. Closest I can come was it was altercall. We had a young man coming to church whom already spent time in jail and he was only 17. He was sitting right in front of us. He stood up, did one of those full body stretches, passed out, and fell HARD down into the wooden pew, stricking his head, the whole works. It was a quiet little Baptist church of less than 75 people and this rattled the windows! At first I wasn't sure if people were sprinting to get their souls right or where they were headed! Its amazing what God'll use to get you to examine your fragility - even if some unknown "explosion" in a small room.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16
