Thinking about it. Now, I hope I can reply to this and get a little more respect than what I got on Hoyt's Forum.

With many big PURCHASES in life, you really want to like what you get. Looks are important to me with any purchase. I don't buy something if in isn't eye catching to me.

Here is what I want in a bow. First and foremost, it HAS to be in Realtree or Advantage camo. That may seem a little odd, but that is important to me. Once it meets that, it has to be a big name company, like Mathews, Hoyt, BowTech, etc. It has to fit me good and shoot good. And lastly, it has to look good. The 2004 Hoyt XTEC did just that. It was, in my opinion, a "typical" Hoyt design. Hoyt went out to please everyone with a simple TEC riser design. In my opinion, they went out and pleased a few with the new flames and points.

For example, I take a brand new Chevy out for a test run. It's cool, but it's in primer. I don't think anything of it. It is by far the best riding vehicle I've ever driven. I get back to the dealership and say "let's customize this bad boy!" When he give me a list of color options, and the only color Chevy's are now offered in is pink with purple flames and yellow rims. What!? Ain't no way I'm going to buy a Chevy.

I don't like the path that Hoyt seems to be taking. They are getting a little too wild for my liking. I know for sure I certainly wouldn't buy a 2005 ProTec, UltraTec or TurboTec. I have yet to see the VTEC or RinTec. But, from what I hear, the VTEC is pretty much an XTEC with a different grip. A lot of people have said Hoyt just took last year's designs, switched them a tiny bit and changed the name. I don't understand why they would do something like that.

My XTEC is a great shooting bow. I am going to shoot the 2005 Mathews and probably the Outback as well, just to see how it is. Maybe even a VTEC if it doesn't look too God aweful. If one of them are better than my XTEC, I just might trade it in. Only time will tell.

I think where Mathews is considered to have such an advantage over Hoyt is evident this year. Hoyt has the same bows (from what I've heard) including some goony risers. Mathews seems to keep things simple and concentrate more on bigger technological advances. But who knows, maybe the 2005 Mathews bows will look stupid too.

Good! See, you read my reply and accepted it. They seem to be trying to tell me that the reason I don't like it "doesn't matter."

The VTEC looks more like a "normal" Hoyt. It actually looks pretty good. But, I don't like this idea of only having a bow out for 2 years and then it's gone. The XTEC and ViperTec will probably be gone in 2006.

I said something about the ZTEC replacing the VTEC in 2007.

We'll just have to wait and see, only time will tell. I'll shoot some new bows and see if I find one better than my XTEC. That would have to be a pretty awesome bow.

I told one of them guys to take a lesson from you. Just accept my opinion, don't tell me it doesn't matter.

I still don't know if I'd buy a VTEC or not. If it is better than my XTEC, then maybe a trade. I'm thinking I'm going to shoot it and probably some new Mathews bows too, since I didn't shoot any last time. I just don't want to stick a lot of money into it for upgrades if there is something better I'm missing out on.

You like that truck, don't you? I'm about ready to take those flames off the TurboTec and throw them at BRW. I don't like him at all. If he doesn't agree with what you think, look out!

Just had to go in and add this note. Seems like we are driving up our post counts, huh?!

Oh sure! So, how's that persuasive speech coming?

I do sort of wish Hoyt kept with the TEC risers of last year. Keep it simple, sort of something like this:

I still think that is one sexy bow!
