You'll be hard pressed to get an unbiased opinion here too. Hoyt fans will tell you Hoyt, Mathews fans will tell you Mathews. Shoot both. If I were to pick one from each, it would probably be the Ovation from Mathews and the ProTec (04) from Hoyt. I don't like the 05 ProTec.

The best thing to do, if you want real unbiased opinions, is to read product reviews in magazines.

    welcome to the site...

i shoot Hoyt and i shoot a Hoyt 2003 ProTec .. while its not the fastest bow out there it pushes my 3-28 accs at right at 287 fps at 60 lbs draw weight.. but as you know with 3d not everything is speed. its about accuracy and i find the Hoyt bows do quite well in that department .. they are the dominant bow on the Indoor Target and Field Tournament scene..

yes Mathews does dominate 3D and they make a quality product.. while i have never shot one very much they seem to be a very good bow...

since you have shot for a while then i suppose your just looking for a new bow that will give you an edge..

the Hoyt Ultratec will do that and more.. 2000 XT limbs for 3 D and a little more speed or the 3000 XT limbs for 3D and a superior indoor target bow..

this is a hard call to make..just find one that fits you very well ...remember that its your shooting form and you that makes the bow not the bow that makes you...

The UltraTec is a VTEC (or XTEC 2004) with XT 2000 limbs. I would probably go for spirals over the standard Cam & 1/2 for target in the Hoyt lineup. I know I would get an 04 over an 05.

Matt you sure dont like the new Hoyt 05s do you ?

wait until you see them in the winners circle a few times.. people will have to accept them when they win and win they will.... its just a fact...

personally i like the new 05 ProTec its looks set it apart from the rest or the bows...now no one will confuse a Ultratec for a Protec....

    What tipped off that statement?

I liked the look of the '04's, but the 05's, to me, were a HUGE disappiontment. I'm not liking the Advance TEC risers, and I don't like how they produce "new" bows that are identical in specs to a bow that was just dropped (ie Turbo and Super). I also don't understand why they have the X and V out together. I would have kept the X and made the V into a bow for the Reflex line. But, they'll probably end up with a RazorTec this year.
