What are you shooting, indoor/3D? They claim feathers are more forgiving, but vanes have less resistance and are faster, which BTW does you no good if you can't shoot well.

I like 4" for hunting and 2.3" for 3D's and AAE Plastifletch vanes and cheap superglue gel from Wal-mart. I use an AZ E-Z fletcher with an offset. I shoot Gold Tip XT's and can't speak for the fatboys. If they are like CE CXL's, well, I won't shoot those anymore.
I like what DG said. 2.3" for 3D. (especially if you're new to 3D, but if you're shooting hunter class, I think those are illegal.)
I would try 5" feathers on those Fatboys for indoor. Fatboys are supposed to be a good arrow. No one could get them when they first came out because people were buying faster than they were making them. Should be set, but I don't remember enough about them to know if they would be a good 3D arrow or not. Are they like a 2613, just carbon?????? Anyway, good luck!!
Oh yeah, I use the AAE vanes (or sometimes duravanes) and the cheap gel superglue from wal-mart and also the Arizona EZ fletcher. Nice combo right there.![]()

Does any one know the shortest size fletch you can use for the hunter class?

Jaybird, if you are shooting IBO rules, I think they are min. 4". But if it's the Hunter Class in ASA, it doesn't matter. If you are shooting 3D locally, you should ask what their rules are because they can differ from the national organizations.
I haven't, but my buddy has. He used them for awhile, but went back to vanes.

I appreciate all the help fellas. Just another thought, has anyone tried the QuickSpin vanes?

Personally, I think they are a gimmic. Wouldn't waste my hard-earned money on them. JMO though.........![]()
if your going to shoot indoor then dont mess with the Easton Fatboys . you can buy easton 2613s or any other size aluminum for a lot cheaper than the fatboys and they will be a heck of a lot straighter..
example...
Fatboys straightness tolerance ....005
Easton X7 Eclipse 2613s.....tolerance .001 and they are only 60 bucks a dozen .
any aluminum would be ok something in the 2413 , 2512 or 2613 are the most popular around here....
currently i shoot 2613s with 5 inch gateway red treebark feathers for indoor .
for hunting i shoot Goldtip 22 series pros with 4 inch straight fletch...
for 3 D i shoot easton 3-28 Accs with 1.5 inch diamond vanes.. or the Goldtip 22 series with 4 inch fletch... it just depends on what class i want to shoot.
for field archery i shoot the 3-28 Accs and the 1.5 inch vanes..
