You can keepin the the freezer for a while just put a lot of salt on it, this is what we did and it worked. As fo rskinning the head I am not sure how we did it. we cut it down the back of the neck, and then we y'd it off at the antlers, not sure if it was in front ot the back of them. Just take your time, nd dont get rushed. Skinning id the mostr boring part I think so you might get hurried to get to the fun stuff but dont. Good luck!

I hope this was just a typo error DO NOT ! Salt any animal hide that you intend to freeze.

Yes, but I would like to see you flesh it first before you freeze it.

also be carefull around the ears and the litle hairs that stick up your ears cn get frost bit and if they do the little fine hairs at the end could break of or look funny ... i refer too RTF on this but a taxidermist told me too be arefull when i freeze my deer to pay extra attention too the ears ... its the little things that make a great mount Good luck ... oh nd dont salt before you freeze =)

Ooops, sorry about that. I guess that I was wrong, but that is what our taxidermist told us to do and it didn't harm anything. What will it do?

the only thing that maybe I can suggest is that you be carefull of the ears when you freeze your cape the little hairs at the end of the ears can get frost bit and break off just take extra care when you put your dear into the freezer the least amount of time in the freezer the better for the taxidermist i would think...RTF might have a trick on the ears just my taxidermist told ust oo take extra care of the deers ears

I got the cape all skinned out.The ears aren't done and i skinned down into the ear a bit around the ear butt.i made one little hole just in front of the inside corner of the eye.its not in the ey but in front of the duct.Should i skin the ears out now and how do i go about doing the ears?I'm not sure how to get at the inside of the ear and where to cut the butts off.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am sorry that I misinformed you about that. I guess we only had the cape in there for a day and a half or so. But I guess that is what we were told to do, but he obviously told us wrong or didn't mean to say.

Thanks ML for explaining on how to do the ears, because I couldnt. Very hard to explain.

I cannot believe any upholding taxidermist would tell anyone to salt a hide, then throw it into the freezer. That is just down right mean
