    Default Mounts

I just wanted to share these. I realize it's probably a bit on the simple side for the accomplished out here, but it is a mounting style my brothers and I have had for 20+ years and has served us well.

My brother is a high school industrial arts teacher and he prepares and lacquers the wood and I mount the antlers. If we recover a slug then that goes with the picture under the lacquer.

They moved my muley rack so I'll re post it here. All the deer were large bodied. Both the whitetails were over 200 pounds dressed. The 8 point was so big my brother and I couldn't lift his behind off the ground (we're both over 6'3" tall). You can see the two shotgun slugs on the mount beside the picture. The buck took two slugs one through the neck and the second through the rib cage. The shots were at about 30 yards and both were in the skin on the exit side.

Here's my Idaho Mule Deer Rack

I like having the pics with the mount so you can remember the hunt.

Sure helps telling the story if you have a picture and any recovered bullets right there. I don't have a single slug that we've recovered except for the ones we've preserved this way.
