Default Need help with mounting a rack

Ok, I have one of those Game Tracker Plaque mounting kits for my rack from this year's archery buck. The directions really suck and they don't give any photos really. Can anyone give me some help/tips on how to mount the rack on? I have a plaque, 2 metal plates and screws, a plastic thing to cover the skull, and foam of which the directions mention trimming the fowm to fit but what is the foam for and what does it do? Let's just say I'm not getting one of these kits again for lack of directions, lol. Also I have yet to get the hair and skin off my skull, do any of you have any tips to make it easier as I normally end up having to carve the dried skin and hair off and even after being bleached it still stinks somewhat I would really really really appreciate any help! Thanks!

Are you just mounting the antlers?

You should probably have removed all the hair and skin before cleaning the skull plate. Skinning away from the skull you can use a screwdriver around the burrs to help you peel it away.

You might try soaking the antlers in plain water to rehydrate the skin before removing it. It might come off easier than being dried stuck on. You will have to clean the skull plate in a solution again once you have all the hide removed.

You can drill a couple holes through the skull plate in the front and back and shoot screws into the plate that you will attach to the plaque and then use the form around the skull plate. Usually the skin or some type of material like felt is then placed back on the skull plate and the form. After you have that part done you attach the plaque to the back of the plate you mounted the antlers too.

Thanks guys! Yes, I am just mounting the antlers(attached to the skull). I just don't get what the heck the foam is for as they said trim it to fit but they don't say where it goes; maybe the directions are just messed up....

TG: the foam is used to keep the "nice round shape"... so you will "cut" the top of the foam (where the antlers will sit), then you will use the foam under the antlers to maintain the "form"... try taking a pic of the whole mount set up... we might be able to give you a little sounder advice. Best of luck.
