Pedestal Mount

Happy New Year!!

I'm thinking about doing a pedestal mount for my Alberta Whitetail from this past year. I'm trying to design and build my own wood pedestal. I was thinking an octagon, about 24"+- across but I dont know how high? Does anyone have any experience with designing and building these?

I know this is not a octagon but it is the only pedestal mount I have, it may give you a idea on the height obtainable. The front glass door opens on this one as well and it is remarkably sturdy.

Wow, both those mounts are really nice. I've never seen one in anyone's home. Might have to give it some though

Some of you have seen this before but since we're on pedistal mounts I'll add my antelope from 2007. I started the base & my taxidermist friend finished it for me.
