How early do you gobbler chasers start turkey scouting for spring?

1.5 months before i start to actively go out of my way to scout. i'm always looking though. even at land and birds i can't hunt, while driving home from work.

put out cams and let them tell me where to be..then depending on what period Im selected for. I'll roost em and go for it

I will try locating them about a week before the opener and then roost them the night before opening day! I try to stay away from their roosts and eating grounds as much as possiable before hunting them. That way I do not bump them out and then half to find them again! I do watch for them through out the year but as you now a lot of times they will change locations during the winter, spring, summer and fall. I do have cameras out also and can see them changing locations so I know pretty close where they will be roosting and feeding during the opening days!!

Scout? Sometimes it would be nice just to get them out of the yard. They can really tear up the ground, even if it's frozen. Here is some pictures from last week as they wandered around the house.

Im always looking for sign, especially when shed hunting. At least i know what farms the birds are frequenting. I don't really start scouting for birds til a few days before the season. A few days before and the night before i hunt i will do a good amount of scouting to see where the birds are feeding throughout the day, and try and see where they are roosting at night. usually try and peg a bird the night before and put him to bed, then get after him at daylight.

I have already started, I look for them in late archery season. I don't get serious until a month or so before the April season. I check and make sure their still in the area and holding. I hunt several private properties and the birds are always changing.

I try to get a feel for where they hang out through deer season. Moved all my trail cams to places where I have caught turkeys in the past a couple of weeks ago. After deer season's over I'll check for sign while I'm loosening stands & pulling some. I'll start listening at dawn froo gobbling birds around mid February.

I don't consider any scouting I may do more than 2 weeks prior to the opener as "serious" but rather "recreational".

Those last two weeks I'll start trying to put gobbling toms on particular limbs with regularity.
