Havent seen or heard a gobbler so far. Very windy and quiet this morning. Maybe next time. Hardly anyone is seeing any strutting or hearing any gobbling. Saw 2 nice birds at a local pro shop.

I'm not from AL but I can tell you they didn't want to play this morning in Mississippi. Overcast, windy and the rain finally moved in but we got a morning hunt in. I heard 3 gobbers that gobbled a total of 4 times. 2 of those birds gobbled on the roost between 5:50 and 6:00 a looonnnngggg way off. I got the other bird to shock gobble at 8:00 but after moving around and setting up above him I couldn't get him to utter another gobble or come in. Waited an hour after setting up and quit at 9:30. One of those days when it was nice to know I had to go to work after lunch.

I talked to 6 other people that hunted this morning. All had the same comments and 2 didn't hear a bird. A friend of mine killed a nice bird with a flash hunt. He set up in the dark to listen and to his surprise he set up real close to where a gobbler was roosted. The bird only gobbled twice on the limb but drummed a bunch. My buddy gave him a few light clucks and that bird pitched down and just about landed in his lap. He touched down 8 steps from him and my buddy killed him at 6:10. He had a 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. That's what you call a flash hunt.

I had a good hunt this morning! I killed a gobbler with a 9 3/4" beard, 7/8" spurs, and weighed 20 lbs. My Father killed a really nice gobbler...11" beard, 1 1/4" spurs, 18 lbs! My buddy's 13 year old daughter killed one about the same size as mine.

I'll post full details and pics later...I need to resize the pics before I post them.

So to answer your question...we had a good day!!!
