300 yards is really far... Can you sneak in any closer? Maybe try and narrow it down to 100 yards?

Is across the road a normal route that these birds take? If it is, calling him across shouldn't be a problem, but you still have to compete with the visible hens.

I'd say set-up right between the road and the hens. Then just play the waitin game.

yeah, i would set up on the hen side . thats were he's going to want to be. he knows they are over there. you might not even have to call. let the real hens call him over to ya.

Definately get on the hen side. If you can spook the hens without spooking him id say thats your best bet.But dont spook the hens toward him.
