Well this morning was absolutely terrible, as far as weather went. The birds ended up roosting in a different spot becuze of the weather and we didnt get setup on the right. So we went too another location and called in a jake but he got spooked bfore she could shoot. Setup on some more that again didnt work, lol had a rough time of it today. Finally at 945 we were about too give up and spotted another group of turkeys so we setup at the edge of the field, 30 mins of calling later 14 jakes came in and she missed at 12 yards then again at 25,lol. So it was a learning experience for her and what a trooper wanting too hunt through the rain we got!! anyways goin back out again tomorrow morning. Goodluck

Good job calling DaHunter...The experience is worth it no matter if you come home empty handed or not. Just getting turkey into range is a challenge and really gets the blood pumping...I can't wait until next Sunday when I can take to the woods for the opener...

I had a blast taking kids out turkey hunting over the past two days . Yesterday morning I called a couple of jakes in for my 13-yr. old cousin and he smoked one of 'em. Today I managed to call in another jake for his 15-yr. old brother after he unfortunately missed a monster longbeard earlier in the morning before I took him out. Oh well...the jake was his first turkey and he was pretty pumped to get it. Both hunts were classics...the birds came in fast and furiously gobbling the entire time. Hopefully this coming sunday the longbeards will be fired up and raring to go. Good luck to all of my fellow NYers!

I agree with the crappy weather!! This morning we had 1" of snow on the ground!!! This shut the birds right down!! Hopefully by next weekend the weather will take a turn for the better!!!

We chased a gobbler around for 2.5 hours but we didn't get him.

I think these early youth "only" seasons are great. Can't really see anything wrong with it...great way to indroduce younger hunters into our sport without all the competion and the animals not as spooked!

Well the weather was not what you would say was good but we gave it a shot . Sat was rain, we got into a good gobbler,2 jakes 3 hens, and almost closed the deal as Iset my son by a large oak with two saplings to the right of it so where did the longbeard go? , of course to the right side with one of the hens. Ended up chaseing them for two hrs , no luck but had ablast!!. Sun we had 2in of snow and no luck either ,but we had fun.
