Start off with some single and double reed calls. They are easier to use.The multi reed calls are great but start out with the basic calls first.
If you're just getting started turkey hunting, I would suggest getting a slate type call and/or box call to use hunting till you get the hang of the diaphragm call.
I have been turkey hunting for the past 4 years and last year i got really hooked killing two gobblers! This year i have already been fortunate enough to kill a 22 pounder with a ten inch beard. I am not bragging in anyway i just want to make a point that you dont have to use mouth calls to be sucessful. My dad uses one and sounds really good so it def. helps. I dont use one at all. If i were you the box call and slate calls work like a charm! Also i just bought a lohman mini pump yelper that seems to work great! Keep on working with the mouth call tho but dont think thats the only way!! Good luck!
ive never used anything but a diaphram....well i have but since ive been hunting its pretty much all ive used...i just bought one and practiced all the time....driving down the road, had a call in my mouth, sitting around in the garage, had a call in my mouth, all i did was practice over and over and it helped big time!
