    Default Turkey Gun

This will probably get moved to the shotgun section..but i figured since it had to do with turkey hunting i would see what kind of response i get here...What is a good Turkey gun could i get for around $350 or maybe even $400...this will be just for turkey hunting and that all...or should i just spend a couple hundered and get the turkey barrel for my T/C encore?

A shotgun barrel for your Encore would be a fine turkey gun, and cost you the least.

Something to keep in mind is how much recoil you want to put up with. 3 inch magnums pack a wallop. Putting a limbsaver recoil pad on your Encore would make it tolerable.

otherwise options in your price range for an entire shotgun, assuming you will use open sights to keep within your budget would be Remington 870 black synthetic, Mossberg 835, Winchester 1300, Browning Stalker BPS. Those four all work quite well.

You might be able to find a decent used semi-auto in the upper end of that price range.

For that price range, check out the Mossberg 835.

As light as a TC Encore is, I think a turkey barrel and turkey load would knock your shoulder clean off.

You can also pick up a Stoeger 2000 semi auto in that price range if you catch one on sale. It's been an awsome gun for me so for!

I have an 835 which is a great gun for the money, and I also have the turkey barrel for my Encore which I love! You obviously like the single shot, so I would definitely get the barrel for your Encore.

Oh, it does pack a punch with the 3" turkey loads, but so does the 835. I took two birds with my Encore last year, my Dad took one with it and so did my 12 year old nephew.... all with the same 3" turkey loads.

T/C barrel. Especially since thats all you'll use it for. Save the extra cash and buy a good choke and a deep fryer for your turkey.

I picked up and handled a Benelli pump today and was surprised how loose it felt. The others next to it were the same way. The slide rattled badly on all of them.
I think the Mossberg is a better buy.

Thanks everyone for all of the input...i thought about it and decided to go with something more expensive...since i am a left handed shooter i would prefer something left handed..and camo..and semi auto...but in order to have all of these in one gun i am going to have to spend some money....so i decided to wait a few months longer and save up and buy a Benelli M2 field left handed in advantage timber Hd camo. My uncle has his dealers license and will order guns for me so i will be able to get it a little cheaper than if i were to buy it at the store....what length barrel would you guys suggest? it comes 28, 26, 24..

One good way to take a bunch of the kick out is to put a limbsaver recoil pad on what ever you choose.

I use a BPS with a slip over limbsaver on it, and it has done a fine job of "taming the savage beast"
