    Default AFTERMARKET CHOKE TUBES

I just bought a Mossberg 835 and I would like to upgrade the choke. Being that I am not made of money I can't afford to buy more than 1 or 2 tubes. I have been looking into the CARLSON'S chokes. Has anyone used these if not what have you used with success and with what shell and shot size? I do understand each gun, shell and choke shoot different.

So guys have had good luck with the Carlson tubes. How much are you willing to spend on an aftermarket choke?

Lots of option in that $20-30 range. Some really good chokes in the $40-50 range including the Comp n choke mentioned earlier. A few more out there up to $100.

Actaully the choke is the cheap part. Then you gotta buy different ammo to see what the gun/choke combo likes. If you can get a bunch of guys together and have each bring 2-3 boxes of different ammo it helps to defray the costs a bit.

I bought one of the TruGlo .665 tubes at Walmarts last year at the last minute and it worked very well for my Rem 870 pump with #5 Federals.
Piad like $12 for it I think.

why doesn't comp n choke make a tube for hevi shot?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Good question! From Comp-N-Choke's website!

    Question:
Can you safely shoot Hevi-shot with a Comp-n-Choke choke?

    Answer:
We do not recommend shooting Hevi-shot while using a choke tighter than Modified (.020). We have seen too many bad results like the one pictured here.
